Privacy Policy

Jan's Family Cookbook · Effective July 30, 2026

Jan's Family Cookbook is a private app made for one family to share and enjoy its recipes. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app collects and how it is used.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect the name you enter, your email address, and a password. While you use the app, we store the content you choose to post — comments, suggested recipe updates, submitted recipes, and recipe stories — along with your display name and the time you posted. The app also records a "last active" timestamp so family members can see who is around. Recipes you favorite are stored only on your own device.

How it is used

This information is used for one purpose: making the cookbook work for the family. Your name appears on the things you post so relatives know who said what. We do not sell your information, show ads, or use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Where it is stored

Account information and posted content are stored securely using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which processes data on our behalf. Access to the app's content requires an account, and creating an account requires a private family invite code.

Sharing

Content you post is visible to other signed-in members of the family. We do not share your information with anyone else, except as required by law.

Children

The app is intended for use by family members and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your choices

You can sign out at any time. To correct or delete your account or anything you have posted, contact us at the address below and we will take care of it promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
